Come with me into the forest around my home. With over 68,000 acres of protected forest in Cook County, Illinois you never know what you may find. We really need these preserves as an emotional brake from the hectic life in and around a big city like Chicago. The forest also serves as a nice reminder of how the area looked hundreds of years ago.
Other local animals I have seen near Chicago, but couldnt get good video of: Coyote, Fox, Skunk, Eastern Chipmunk, Beaver, Turtles, Canadian Geese, Muskrat, Opossum, and lots of birdies.
It is possible in parts of Cook County that a very rare sighting of a wolf or a cougar may take place due to protected wildlife populations being displaced by human growth.
What can you do?
You can (like I just did) become a Friend of the Forest Preserve:

Help local Fox and Gray Squirrels:

And even though wolves are rarely reported in Illinois:

My daughter lives …
My daughter lives in a remote area in a house her dad helped her get.
She saw a bob cat in her yard and took a picture of it for me. She knows I like cats. She still can’t forget the time a neighbor’s cat attacked her rabbit, so she can take or leave the species.
She’s also seen deer, jack rabbits and a great number of squirrels.
I only recently discovered that squirrels are in the rodent family.

I love your videos …
I love your videos briczar22. I am a huge wildlife fan/advocate. We only have 3 acres of woodland, but I love watching the wildlife and every animal is made to feel welcome. We get rabbits, raccoons, oppossums, squirrels, deer, and millions of birds. Our cats love watching the wildlife too. We get raccoons up on our deck. Our home is our sanctuary and we absolutely love the wildlife.
Great video, Brian! …
Great video, Brian! It looks like at the end of the video you forgot to mention our alternate State Bird, the mosquito. Ha, ha. Well anywho, let’s get together soon and go drop a line somewhere.
