Preserve the Union – a guide for unionists

A work of satire: Uncovered under the freedom of information act this public service video was used to train high profile unionists in all walks of Scottish life on how best to undermine Scottish self determination and ensure the union was preserved.

update:

given the various comments made about this on various forums, at the time of making this i was not aware of this “wee unionist handbook” and based some of the speech on an article that has been available online since 2004.

  1. manyhighhills says:

It may have been a …
It may have been a post-1707 song so that the English can dance with Scots, at parties.

    I might be wrong!

  2. Kinlochbervie50 says:

    what’s the reel/jig …
what’s the reel/jig tune in the background called?

  3. ugizzat says:

    The miners and …
The miners and unions, quite rightly
got creamed. They brought the UK to
its knees in the 1960s and 1970s
I am already living that nightmare
under Labour and believe me it
happens every time they are in
    power.
    Wages stagnate while prices soar.

  4. ugizzat says:

    Did not Miners try …
Did not Miners try to bring down
Thatcher just as they did with Heath.
All they brought down was their own
    jobs,Industry and self respect along
with the jobs of other Union members.
Still though Scargill come out of it OK.
He started the strike with a BIG Union
and a SMALL house and ended with a
SMALL Union and a BIG house.
You bang on about Labour and fight for the “cause” while they sit in their BIG
houses LAUGHING at you as you go on
    about the SOCIALISM they ABANDONED.

  5. ugizzat says:

    Yeah and the Tories …
Yeah and the Tories spent the early seventies trying to run a country they
    were democratically elected to run.
They were brought down by all the
    looney left wing Unions.
    What replaced them? Why Labour
of course ,with three years of wage
freezes, soaring prices and the ’79
    Winter of discontent.
    THEY were THAT good?.
I see the Suns dumped the ,
by backing the Tories in England.
In Scotland it will “hedge its bets” If
it backs the Tories here, its screwed
    and knows it..

  6. ugizzat says:

    Was not Labour in …
Was not Labour in control of the
UK for the last part of the decade
    Oil was”discovered” in the North
    Sea, in the 70s?.
Was it so brilliant in its handling
of the income it accrued from this
new found source of wealth and prosperity,or did it just fritter them
away on inane,,insane and wholly unsustainable, policies, much as it
    is doing today?.
Both Tory AND Labour are destroying
    the UK.
Was yours not just another comment wherein the kettle calls the pot “black arse”?.

  7. ugizzat says:

    The Tories WILL …
The Tories WILL swan back just as they have in the past and just as Labour have done.
Each Party has caused great damage
to the UK and will no doubt continue to
    do so.
Todays Labour failures will no doubt be elevated to knighthoods just as all those
failures including the Tories have been
    in the past.
Neither Labour or the Tories are the
answer to the UKs ills but they ARE
    the cause of them.
    The longer bampots support these
shits the faster hey will destroy the
    UK.

  8. ugizzat says:

    Re my previous …
Re my previous comment THE CLAUSE.
In the last UK general Election Labour
took control with ONLY just over 35% of
the popular vote.this from a total vote far
short of the 68+% who voted in th 1979
Scots Referendum, and that was a two only vote choice “YES” or “NO” not the
multipile of choices in the UK Election
Almost twice as many Scots voted for
devolution in 1979 than voted for Labour
in the last UK General Election.
    THAT’S UK DEMOCRACY, SLEAZY AND
    TOTALLY CORRUPT.
    INDEPENDENCE

  9. ugizzat says:

    THE CLAUSE:-
    40% …

    THE CLAUSE:-
    40% of REGISISTERED Scots voters
had to vote “YES” otherwise the vote
    would not be ratified.
This meant that although over 51% of
those who DID vote opted for “YES” the
votes of those who DID not, COULD not
or had recently died were included in the
“NO” vote. The result was a DEFEAT of
    the yes vote.
The CLAUSE was proposed by a TORY
MP and was ENDORSED BY LABOUR
which was in GOVERNMENT at the time
The REFERENDUM was SHAM and all
down to the TORIES and LABOUR.

  10. ugizzat says:

    In the March1979 …
    In the March1979 Referendum on
Scottish Devilutionover 51% of the 2.000.000 who voted voted YES
and just over 48% voted NO.
If the normal UK election rules of
1st past the post had applied we
    would have had devolution there
    and then.
True to the dishonest manner in
which it always operates the Labour Party,in control of the UK, at the time allowed an Undemocratic clause to
be included in the Vote which meant
the YES vote had to fail.
Anyone want to know what that Clause was?

  11. ugizzat says:

    Wot!, no mention of …
Wot!, no mention of the Prescription
    Charges,Graduated Pension or the
handing of Jet Engines to the Soviets
Are you claiming Labour did none of
    these or avoiding the uncomfortable
fact that Labour are useless shits?
You really are a true Labour supporter,
wholly ignorant and thick as pigshit.

  12. ugizzat says:

    Labour introduced a …
    Labour introduced a Graduated Pension
Scheme with the promise that for every £7.10/- paid by the WORKERS, 6d would be added to their pension.
That soon went by the board.
I often wonder what happened to those
contributions from the WORKERS hard earned wages.
    Maybe some slavering Labour Acolyte
    out there can tell me?

  13. ugizzat says:

    In 1949 Labour …
In 1949 Labour handed its Soviet pals
two working units of the Rolls Royce
Nene jet engine complete with the plans jigs and tools to produce them.
This was before any of our jets had them.
In the Korean war the MIG15 powered
by a Soviet derivitive of the engine was
shooting our planes and pilots out of the
    sky over North Korea.
Neither Rolls Royce or it workers ever made a penny from the deal.
You support treacherous such as that?.
Your welcome to them and they to you.

  14. ugizzat says:

    Who introduced the …
    Who introduced the 10p prescription
charge as a “temporary measure”, in
    the 1970s?
Was it not the Labour chancellor Jim
    Callaghan?.
How much does a WORKER have to
pay per item today today? Who last
    raised the prescription cost ?
Labour is the WORKING mans Party?
    Yeah, like thats right.
26% was in 1979, you remember, the
the year of the Winter of discontent,
Now let me think who was in power
and who was PM? Oh ,yes, it was
    Labour and Callaghan.

  15. ugizzat says:

Naw, but i did live …
Naw, but i did live under Labour govornments in the 1960s and
70s and know what a waste of
    time they were
devaluation of the £, three years of
wages freeze, inflation at 26% and
prices allowed to spiral while the
    workers struggled to make ends
    meet.
If you wanna bum up labpur do it
with the young they may be so daft
they’ll heed you, but with those who
have experience of Labour and its
    discredited Socialist cant, you can
    forget it.
Blair and Brown have already done
    so.

  16. ugizzat says:

    Thatcher was not …
Thatcher was not in power in 1969
but Labour were much like to day.
You can see how wonderful these
    times are
It is no coincidence that the serial
hit man, drunk, begger or bampot
in TV program series is invarialby a
    hard man from Glasgow because
that is how we Scots are percieved.
Its called typecasting and has an
    element of fact.
the drunk i met did not display any
pride in “his country “, “his capital”
or indeed in himself,in 1969 with
    a Labour Govornment in power,

  17. ugizzat says:

    When i firstwent …
When i firstwent to london in 1969 i
alighted from my train at 8.15 AM the
first several people i saw were Black.
The first White i met and spoke to was
a Glaswegian, pissed out of his mind.
So it DID happen in the 1960s.
“Thatcher was a gormless twat” What
does that make Blair and Brown?.
Not sodding geniuses, thats for sure.
    Stuff the Union.
    INDEPENDENCE!!!!

  18. gethinj says:

    Scotland and Wales …
Scotland and Wales have given enough cash to Westminster to fund the English toffs with their cowboy wars. Independence is about being equal. And having respect and power. Annibyniaeth i Gymru.

  19. segano1 says:

    Aye,well im …
Aye,well im Scottish and this video is very realistic, thats exactly what ignorant unionists try to do and i should know, ive had quite a lot of arguements with them.

  20. Angus333McBride says:

    So… Lets vote: …
    So… Lets vote: INDEPENDENCE!!!

  21. calicheSCOT says:

    Hahaha what a great …
Hahaha what a great video, thanks for making it!

  22. unspecifydgeneralist says:

    hmm youtube de laye …
hmm youtube de laye. OK lmao at 1:14

  23. unspecifydgeneralist says:

    roflmao at about 1: …
    roflmao at about 1:16.

  24. globaltraveller says:

    Well that’s funny …
Well that’s funny because the Scottish Parliament has been in recess since the end of June.

As was pointed out to you the “Scottish” banking bailout (that isn’t even Scottish) amounted to a few years worth of tax receipts from RBS alone – a trivial amount compared to the wealth sucked in from the North Sea over the past 30 years.

  25. mrtin2811 says:
