I saw 2 raccoons at a wildlife preserve. Neither had a tail and they were huge. What’s that about?

Raccoons are actually pretty big animals once full grown. Most the ones you see on TV are still young and fairly easy to work with. Once they reach full maturity however they get harder to handle and are very large (up to 45 lbs). As for the tail thing, if they were in a preserve they probably had some sort of accident and lost their tails.

    If they were at a wildlife preserve they were probably there because someone decided they couldn’t survive in the wild. They probably each lost their tail in some kind of accident or fight. As for them being huge…I guessing it’s because they’re being fed by the wildlife preserve.
