What are some of the prettiest/best forest preserves in Illinois to have a wedding at?

I am getting married in June 2012 and would like to find a well kept, beautiful forest preserve within 100 miles of zipcode 60445. Near a lake would be perfect. A shelter/pavilion is not necessary as I plan to rent large white tents. Thanks!

Check with your local city, county and state parks as too what is available for weddings. Many public places do not allow large tents to be erected, so this is something you will need to check on. You might be better to see if there is a privately owned place that you can rent that will allow tents.

How to make and preserve rose water at home?

Rose water (also spelled Rosewater) can be used in cooking as well as a rich beauty aid.

Try some as a facial toner or astringent, in your bath water or as a facial splash (refresher).

Notes on Preparation:

■Rose petals must be freshly picked and have no pesticides or chemicals used on them.
■Pick the roses just after the morning dew has evaporated, about 2 to 3 hours after sunrise.
■Use only the petals, not the stems or leaves.
■Wash the petals quickly to remove any bugs or specks of dirt and immediately process with one of the methods below.
■If you don’t grow your own roses, ask at the local florist or Farmers Market for organic roses.

Old Fashioned Recipe for Distilled Rosewater
(Rose Hydrosol)

Items Needed:

Fresh rose petals (3 to 4 quarts)
Ice cubes
Distilled Water
Enamel canning or stock pot with lid
Deep, heavy heat proof bowl

Directions:

■Fill the bottom of the pot with the rose petals and pour water over them until the petals are just covered. Place the bowl in the middle of the pot. The rim should be at least a couple inches higher than the water. If you have a canning rack, you can set the bowl on top of that so the bowl doesn’t sit directly over the heat. A pyrex loaf dish underneath the bowl would do the trick too. Set these in place first before adding the rose petals and water.
■Cover the pot with its lid, but position the lid upside down so that you have a dipped “container” to hold the ice on top (to be added later). Now turn on the heat and bring the water to a boil.
■Once the water is boiling, fill the top of the inverted pot lid with ice cubes. Turn the heat down and keep at a bare simmer for about two hours.
■Top up the ice as needed and quickly peek occasionally to see that the petals don’t boil dry.
This process will enable condensation to form on the top inside of the pot lid. The condensation will drip down into the bowl inside the pot, the liquid inside the bowl is your rose water.

How can preserve a cockroach at home for at least one month?

I killed a cockroach using Hit spray and then washed it in water and dried it under fan. Now i wish to presreve it for dissecting it after one month. Can u suggest any measure?

I’ve found preserving insects in a glass bottle with Methylated Spirits was good & would be worth trying.

Is it more important to preserve jobs and economic growth or to preserve the habitat of endangered species? What limits should be set on economic growth? Environmental protection? Are economic growth and habitat preservation mutually exclusive?

10 % of the oceans big fish remain , 25% of all mammals face extinction in the next 30 years . 3 species a week go extinct . if we don’t save the ecosystem , the place were we get our food , a job won’t help if you are starving to death . even now , every ten seconds a person starves to death somewhere on earth . 7 billion is unsustainable . the movie ‘ soylent green ‘ is set in the year 2017 .
the good news is – genetically modified grains are designed to feed the masses , and if the animal models hold true for human , by the 3rd generation of eating GM grain , fertility rates go down to 0 % . so if you want grandchildren you must stay kosher .

How do I preserve my wedding flowers in a non-traditional way?

I want to preserve my wedding flowers but I don’t want to freeze dry them or put them in a shadow box. Does anyone know a unique way to preserve my flowers?

Like you I am not very traditional so when I wanted to preserve my wedding bouquet flowers I searched the web for flower preservation and memorial jewelry. I found this site www.isiskeepsakes.com. They can take your flowers, whether fresh or already dried, and create a keepsake for you. I had them make me a beautiful flower petal earring and pendant set for myself and had a bracelet made for my mother. Their jewelry is beautiful and unique and is much less expensive than freeze drying and I can wear my flowers forever.

You REALLY want to help the environment? Do you REALLY care? Do you REALLY want to do something about it?

If so, you have to address the core problem. The central reason. The source of all the problems we have with the environment in the first place. The CAUSE of all this. And, that IS the increasing number of humans on this planet.

If you want to help, then advocate and promote birth control, contraceptives, abortion, and two-child families. Demean this antiquated, superstitious belief that we should "be fruitful and multiply". Make people realize that the ONLY way to save this planet is to achieve 0 population growth.

If we do not stop our every increasing predilection for breeding like a bunch of rats, we will, sooner than you think, use up ALL our natural resources, pollute all our air and water, destroy our oceans, cut down all our forests, hunt down all our wildlife, continue to kill millions of small animals on our roads and freeways, have pointless wars over religious differences, and spread unstoppable diseases throughout the world. Etc, etc, etc.

Only by controlling our numbers will we save this planet. If we do not, then, not only the Earth will be destroyed, but we are DOOMED as well. No doubt about it.

Who would you put on the ‘Predators’ planet?

After watching the new ‘Predators’ film i was wondering if any fictitious characters from movies, games or literature would do great there… For those who havent watch the film *minor spoiler* its a game preserve of the worlds killers, people who would pose a challenge to hunt. I can imagine characters like Riddick, Punisher, Rambo all getting along quiet well in their element. Who do you think would be a challenge to the Predators?

Definitely Haruhi Suzumiya, the powerpuff girls (without Buttercup because that would be silly), Jade Chan from Jackie Chan Adventures, a single Gundam with no pilot, Hamtaro, picachu, Hermione Granger daughter Rose after she’s graduated Hogwarts, and the pink power ranger from the first series.

What is the most effective way to preserve your curls overnight?

I usually take a shower in the morning, but now that school has started I don’t have time to do that anymore. I have soft ringlet curls, but whenever I wake up, the curls are gone. So, what is the most effective way to preserve your curls overnight?
-Covering it in a shower cap.
-Doing the pineapple bun/ponytail.

literally just sleep with your wet hair but like bunch it all up if you know what i mean
after you shower let your hair dry 2 mins or so and then apply a curling mousse and then go to sleep with your hair wet.
in the morning just put a curling soomthing creme to tame frizz tresemme has a good one
