Fossil Rim Wild Life Game Preserve in Glen Rose Texas has a couple Light Spotted Giraffes and one Dark Spotted one. I was just wondering if this was because they were from different regions.
It is possible that they have slightly different traits or different environments where darker/lighter spots are favored, but most of the time the spots get darker with age.

A giraffe’s spots grow darker as it ages. The darker a giraffe is, the older it is, as a general rule. I’m sure there are certain instances in which a genetic mutation will alter this, but naturally, a giraffe darkens as it ages.
