While visiting Zimbabwe in October 2009, we had an opportunity to visit a game preserve and do their Walk with Lions.
This facility was created to take care of animals that had been abandoned by their mothers.
These three lions, Alex (15 months), Jacob (9 months), and Wabos (7 months) would have been killed if not adopted.
They were playful but we had to be very careful with Alex, never to turn our backs to him.
We could pick up Wabos and cuddle and play with him.
The strangest thing was Jacob’s attitude toward me. Anywhere I went, he followed.
If I kneeled down, he would lay down under my legs. I had to be very careful not to step on him.
Others in the group began to laugh at me, wondering whether I had some food in my pockets to entice Jacob.
